DFI Emergency Relief 2026
Supporting Families Displaced by Violence in Haiti
Since early May, hundreds of families living in the Cul-de-Sac Plain area of Port-au-Prince have been forced to flee their homes due to ongoing gang violence. Many families are now living in the streets with their children, taking shelter in temporary and unsafe conditions without reliable access to food, clean water, or basic necessities.
In response to this humanitarian crisis, DFI launched an emergency relief initiative aimed at providing immediate support to as many displaced families as possible. Emergency food kits were distributed containing essential dry goods such as rice, peas, cooking oil, spaghetti, and sugar. Families also received hygiene supplies, including Clorox and sanitary products, to help them endure these extremely difficult circumstances.
This initiative reflects DFI’s commitment to standing in solidarity with vulnerable families affected by violence and displacement. While this support brings temporary relief, the situation remains critical and calls for continued mobilization from authorities, humanitarian organizations, partners, and the broader Haitian community.
No family should be forced to live in unsafe and inhumane conditions because of violence.
