AGAPE SCHOOL for Street Kids

Agape School is an exceptional educational institution dedicated to providing education to street children who have been left behind in formal education and entered Haiti’s educational system later in life. Through a specialized Accelerated program developed by Haiti’s Ministry of National Education, we enable these children to complete the first six years of elementary school within just three years. At Agape School, we are committed to ensuring that every child receives access to quality education, regardless of their circumstances. Our accelerated program bridges educational gaps quickly, laying a solid foundation for lifelong learning and success. Through Agape School, the lives of street children are being transformed as we are equipping them with the necessary tools to build a brighter future. Together, we are creating a society where every child is given the opportunity to an education in order to reach their potential and achieve their dreams.

Agape School Trutier, located in one of the most dangerous and poverty-stricken areas in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was once supported by DFI but is now being fully operated by the organization. The school is located in an area within the community known as “Trash Village”. DFI is currently able to offer free education and a daily hot meal to 119 children from the area. We are currently in the process of building four (4) kindergarten classrooms and an administrative office, as our hope is to extend the school in order to give other children from the community the opportunity to attend school.

At Development for Freedom International (DFI), we believe in the power of collaboration to improve Haiti’s educational system. Beyond Agape School, we actively support schools across the country, offering both financial and technical assistance to foster a stronger foundation for education.

In areas such as Montrouis, Arcahaie, and Ganthier, we contribute to teacher salaries, ensuring quality education remains accessible to students. In Port-au-Prince, we provide both educational materials and food to schools, recognizing the critical role that nutrition plays in children’s health and academic performance. Our efforts are driven by a commitment to strengthening Haiti’s education system and the desire to create nurturing environments where students can thrive. By investing in education and working together with local communities, we aim to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future.

Girls in technology

In line with our commitment to education, DFI is planning to open and operate an all-girls Technology and Vocational school at our 6,000 square meters of land in the center of Port au Prince, designed specifically for young girls. This program aims to empower them to acquire technical skills related to technological development, positioning them as future leaders in their communities. Historically, Haitian women have been given limited opportunities and are often funneled into traditional roles such as sewing, cooking, or secretarial work. Recognizing this disparity, Girls in Technology seeks to break societal barriers by training a new generation of strong, independent women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and digital innovation.

Our curriculum is designed to equip girls with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in technical fields, challenge gender stereotypes, and foster equality. By nurturing their talents and building their confidence, they are being prepared for successful careers and leadership roles in traditionally male-dominated industries. At Girls in Technology, we believe every girl deserves an equal opportunity and the freedom to pursue their passion in the technology sector. Together, we are shaping a future where girls will thrive, contribute to innovation, and emerge as strong leaders in their fields. Please join us in opening our Girls in Technology School in Haiti.
